Growing Spring Veggies

 
 
 

Description

This workshop will teach you all you need to know to plant and grow a productive spring and summer vegetable garden. Through a combination of theory, discussion and hands-on activity participants will:

  • learn about the importance of preparing soil before planting
  • learn about soil testing, adding soil conditioners, amendments and fertilisers
  • learn how to grow and maintain spring and summer veggies, including protecting plants from pest and disease during the growing season
  • create a seed/seed raising mix, sow seeds, prick out seedlings and plant or pot them up

All participants will take home a seed punnet with seeds or seedlings and the skills required to nurture them to harvest. 

This workshop is open to people aged 15 years and over. No previous gardening knowledge required.

About the Tutor

Melissa Houselander is a qualified Horticulturist, with experience and passion for social and therapeutic horticulture, native gardens and tending her own orchard, large vegetable patch and keeping chickens.
Melissa is a local, and runs her own business providing horticultural services, sustainable landscape design and is a Tutor of Horticulture.
 

Concession fees

A Concession fee of around 10% off is available to holders of Health Care Cards, Pension concession cards or Veterans Gold cards.
