Hand building & Jewellery Making with Clay

 
 
 
Description
 
Have you always wanted to have a go at creating a little bit of magic with clay? This course is designed for people wanting to learn about hand building. Getting creative with artistic pieces, practical usable pieces and/or wearable art. This will include slab rolling, coil building, carving, pressing glazing and more. We will look at developing a style, colour concepts, line, balance, weight, suppliers, networks and do a lot of talking to develop and share ideas. 

Participants have the opportunity to exhibit in our end of year diversARTy exhibition at Eltham Library Gallery to celebrate their achievements with friends and family.

 All classes are held in our well-equipped clay studio at our beautiful  Eltham centre. Clay can be purchased and we have a firing service for a small fee. Victoria Art Supplies Eltham sell starter kits for ceramics for $23. These courses are very popular, so book early.

This course is held in our well equipped Clay Studio at our Eltham centre - 739 Main Road.
 

What to bring

·         Read Safe Studio Practices prior to your first class. This will also be reviewed on the first day. This includes what to wear and what to bring: Safe Studio Practices / Safe Studio Practices 
·         We advise you to buy your materials/equipment no more than one week prior to the start of the course to avoid expense for a course that may be cancelled. 
·        Clay and firing can be purchased online or in person.
 

About the Tutor

Emma Amos (Wednesday morning class) has been a creative her whole life. Film and photography, music and acting, painting and ceramics, hairdressing and business. With 25 years experience in running creative businesses, Emma has a unique perspective on what creativity is and how it relates to individuals.
