Apple iPads are fast becoming a part of everyday life.  Learn what these amazing devices can do and develop your skills and knowledge further in a small group.  These courses progress at the pace of the majority of participants in the class.  Bring your own iPad for hands on play in our wireless environment or loan one for the session by calling 9433 3744 at least 2 days prior to the session.  

iPad introduction
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Apple iPad!  See what an Apple iPad can do for you in this informative session.  Specifically designed for people who do not have an iPad but are interested or have one but only use it a little.

iPad - beginners
Discover what this amazing device can do right from scratch so that you can gain confidence through guided 'play'.  This course progresses in a step by step fashion with extra time allocated to assist the learning process for those who are not so technologically savvy.  Topics covered include:
  • Physical tour of iPad, autolock and passcodes
  • Connecting to WiFi and Safari
  • Apple ID/passwords and intro to iCloud
  • Software updates
  • Finding, adding, deleting, moving, closing and minimising apps
  • iPad gestures
  • Control centre
  • Screen shots, taking and editing photos
  • How to redeem iTunes cards
  • Clock, alarms, calendar and reminders

iPad - intermediate
This course is for those who are already using their iPad frequently and are familiar with all of its basic functions.  The class will 'fly through' a review of the beginner topics above and then move on to the next level of information and include the following topics:

  • Zinio magazines
  • Overdrive e-books
  • Photo collages
  • PDF to ibooks
  • eWallet

iPad - open forum
This course is for those who have already done training or are iPad savvy.  The topics covered follow the interests of participants in the group.  With learning done to develop a big picture understanding of how things work rather than just a quick fix.  Discover a new function that is useful to you that you didn't even know existed.  Bring along your iPad and those burning questions on how to get more out of this amazing gadget. 

iPad - iMovie
Now you know your way around your iPad, explore how easy it is to make a movie.  Share your travel photos and videos with your family and friends in a fun, and engaging way that spans all generations.  
Topics covered include:
  • Introduction to iMovie and how easy it is 
  • What to consider when collecting good images / footage
  • Using a story board to plan your movie 
  • Adding text, credits, transitions and music

This course is open to people 18 years and over. If you are bringing your own device please make sure that your device is an 'Apple' iPad by checking for the Apple logo on the back.

iPad for all
This is a 1 on 1 tutored class which is tailored to the learning and life skill / social connection needs of each individual.  Our tutor is experienced in working with young people, to seniors and those with a disability. NDIS clients are welcome.  Have 1 or 2 sessions to fast track what is important for internet security, connecting your email, organising other settings finding the apps that you need.  Continue your learning with ongoing weekly tuition as you may require.  Call 9433 3744 to register your interest for this service and let us know what days and times would suit you.

About the Tutor

Tracey is an experienced tutor who has taught various subjects to secondary school and adult learners over many years.  She has a passion for ensuring that adult learning is meaningful and occurs in a fun and relaxed environment.  Her iPad knowledge is extensive and self taught.  Tracey has a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education.

Concession fees

Concession fees are available to holders of Health Care Cards, Pension concession cards or Veterans Gold cards. If you are eligible, please select the concession fee when enrolling and click "calculate discount'. You may be asked to present your card for verification when attending the course or activity.
