Description

Small and fun group classes for beginner and intermediate guitar.

Please note, regular classes are not being run in term 3 but there is the opportunity to join two free classes on Wednesday 17 and 24 August (7:00pm - 8:30pm) to try out beginner guitar.

Also you can enrol now for term 4.

Learn guitar - Introduction 
This friendly class will cover:
  • introduction to the guitar and basic technique,
  • tuning the instrument,
  • easy chords and simple strumming patterns,
  • familiarisation with reading basic tablature and chord boxes.
The instructor will include a brief overview of some simple music theory, introduction to the capo (a device for changing key), basic classical guitar and the basis of blues, jazz and early rock. Along the way you will learn some simple folk /pop/ rock songs.

Learn guitar - Developing (not running for the rest of 2022)
The tutor will continue to build on the foundation skills introduced in the first course. This class is for those who have completed the introduction class or have had some prior experience playing simple guitar pieces/songs.

This course is open to people aged 18 years and over.
 

Venue

This course is held at our Diamond Creek centre - 119 Cowin St.
 

What to bring

Please bring a guitar, pen, notebook and plastic pocket folder for notes.
 

About the tutor

Taariq Hassan is a qualified and trained music teacher, composer, performer, multi-instrumentalist and recording artist with 7 self-funded CD releases to his name so far. He has 31 years of experience with playing the guitar and over 20 years of experience teaching the guitar.
 

Concession fees

A Concession fee of around 10% off is available to holders of Health Care Cards, Pension concession cards or Veterans Gold cards.

You may be asked to present your Health Care card, Pension concession card or Veterans Gold card for verification when attending a course or activity.
