Course Description

Accidents can happen any time. Older adults face a particularly high risk of certain injuries and illnesses‚ such as falls and heart attacks.
A First Aid session at Living & Learning Nillumbik will prepare you for possible emergencies. You never know when someone might need to perform first aid. For older adults, immediate help can sometimes make a lifesaving difference.

It’s important to know that older adults are more vulnerable to accidents and injuries, which may require immediate first aid assistance. Understanding some of the common first aid medical situations that older adults face can help you prepare for possible emergencies.

Some of the topics will include:

  • Falls 
  • Cuts and scrapes
  • Cardiovascular problems
  • Heat-and cold-related illness
  • Stroke/ Asthma
  • Diabetes/ Anaphylaxis
  • Seizure and more

10.00am - 12.30pm

What to bring

Please wear comfortable clothing.

 

Concession fees

A Concession fee  is available to holders of Health Care Cards, Pension concession cards or Veterans Gold cards. 
If you are eligible, please select the concession fee when enrolling and click "calculate discount".
You may be asked to present your Health Care card, Pension concession card or Veterans Gold card for verification when attending a course or activity.
